What’s up guys. I know it’s been a bit but I’ve been pretty busy with school lately. A lot has happened since the last post. I worked at the print lab for about a day, then I was told to bring in my social security card. I called my mom to see if she had it and low and behold, she didn’t… so I had to go through the whole process of trying to apply for another one. I thought that there was an office right down the street, but it’s been boarded up and closed for a while now. Then I tried calling 3 different social security offices in the Charleston area, and I couldn’t get a hold of a single one… so I just downloaded the Application online and mailed it to the nearest one with the highest of hopes.. It took forever to get this card, it was ridiculous. Should’nt everyone who has had a social security card be in some system or something that should make this process a little easier… I had to postpone working for a whole month because of this. On another topic, the business cards I mentioned in my last post gave me just as much trouble. They attempted to deliver them to me three days in a row. Of course those would be the same three days I was out of town. So they left me a note and said this was our final attempt, come to the office to pick up your package. Now for those of you that don’t know, I don’t have a car. So going all the way to Rivers Avenue was out of the question. So I rescheduled the delivery, twice, and both times it didn’t show up! So I called and relayed a bitter complaint. I finally got my business cards and I’ve been distributing them since then. What gets me is that it’s harder for me to get a package of business cards then to get a social security card! They wouldn’t give me my package because I wasn’t there to sign for it…but the social security card could have sat on my porch for days unguarded. What the hell is wrong with this picture. Anyway, I was sick for a few days after spending the night with a close personal friend. But I just kept telling myself “I can’t get sick, no way am I getting sick”. And it seemed to work. I got a slight runny nose but that was about it. I spent most of my 3 days sipping miso soup from the Chinese restaurant next door. Anyway, I stumbled upon something amazing. It’s stumbleupon. I’ve known about this site for sometime but never cared to try it until the one day that I worked at the print lab and my coworker was using it. It’s pretty awesome. You check off all of your interests and based on that it selects a random site online. So I’ve been looking at a lot of photoshop tutorials and various artists sites. It’s addictive as well. I always have to stumble just once before bed. I hope everyone had a great Halloween this year. I had a good time. Some of my friends from the Burg visited and we hung out downtown. One of them was Charlie Chaplin (if you don’t know who that is go slap yourself) and the other was a Circus Ringmaster. I didn’t have a costume this year which sucks. Every year I tell myself I’m going to have one and then the 31st kind of just sneaks up on me. Election day was fun. This is the first election I was eligible for and it couldn’t have been at a better time. For the first time in Americas history an African American has been elected president. There’s been so much hype around this election between Barack Obama and John McCain, and with good reason. I waited in line for 2 hours to cast my vote, but I have to say being patriotic and making your vote count, it really is a good feeling. But the issue isn’t what our president’s race is, or what party he’s with, honestly. I voted for the candidate that I believed would be the best choice and could make positive and effective decisions for our amazing country. Whether your republican or democrat, it doesn’t really matter. We’re one nation and we should be working toward a common goal, not divided. It’s exciting to know that we will have such a progressive leader in office. I think everyone is itching for change, we will have to see how things pan out. And finally yesterday was my 21st birthday. Finally I’m legal. But honestly folks, it’s not that big of a deal really. Just one more thing for us to spend our money on that we really don’t need. But drinking is such a large part of Charleston’s culture young and old that I do believe it’s hard to deny it. I splurged last night, went out with a couple of friends and tried a couple of drinks that helped to open my virgin eyes to the possibilities of mixology (those being mostly martinis). But I retained my composure. No barfing scenes, no hellish hangover. I went out, I celebrated and I did it responsibly. I know you guys are waiting on the official gallery page, I promise it’ll be up by end of month. No takesies backsies on that one. As always I’ll keep you guys posted. Laterz.

And finally a message from the Staten Island Zoo.
